Picked up RR from auto elec Saturday morning.

Picked up RR from auto elec Saturday morning.
Does this thing move out very impressive. All that was wanted and more.
Now just have to refit interior, hood lining etc and new stereo.
Next is drive line upgrade: hilux diff centres 4.3-1, jac mac axles and t/case from 84-5 auto. change high range from 1.192-1 to 1.003-1.
Ratio changes allow good road speed/revs while lowering crawl speed, not slow enough but getting there. Other options maxidrive gears or ashcroft crawler box. ( more $$$)
Front and rear links are works in progress.
regards
Michael.

Engine specs
5.7 litre. 355 ci. Harrop stroked 308.
215 KW @ 4800rpm.
475 nm @ 3600, 400nm available at 1200rpm.
And yes it has much more power, makes over taking a breeze.
performence will only get better as it has only 400k on clock.
Fuel economy will be much better than old 3.5.(expecting around 25mpg+)

You're gunna put 215Kw and bulk torque through an LT77?
Whats plan B when the 77 throws in the towel?
Cheers
Daryl
Yeah i was thinking the same thing as my boss had one in his with a Isuzu Turbo Diesel and it went bang near straight after fitting it and it had been fully recoed.
When LT 77 goes
Options Im looking at.
1: R380 cheapest easy fit.
2: Nisan 5 speed expensive.
3: Turbo 700 or ZF.
Yes I expect it to die sooner than later.

No at present the engine is as per factory.
I purchased it new (crate engine with computer, clutch, manifolds ETC).
I agree the R380 is looking good also a bolt in fit.

THATS AN EXPENSIVE WAY TO FIX A PROBLEM, IF AN R380 BREAKS IT'S STUFFED ANYWAY, GOOD R380s DON'T JUST BREAK. JD PUTS OVER 600 REAL HP IN THEM WITHOUT PROBLEMS.
Gear Box
Nissan box has great 1st gear would be so good, loose out on overdrive.
The kit used to cost about $1500.00 plus box another 1.5-2K. Are drive shaft changes required.
R380's seem to take the power Ok. but if abused Im sure it will die.
Advantage is it bolts straight in no hassles only problem is 1st gear is high.
Spare no expense fit a NV4500.
Work out what gearing you want, a budget to do the works then move forward.

The difference in fifth between the R380 and Nissan box is small. (0.83 Nissan v 0.77 RR). For me, putting in a Nissan box kills two birds with one stone and is cheaper.
Option a) - R380 with maxidrive crawler approx $3500 - $4500 plus fitting. Low first is still lower with the Nissan box.
Option b) - Nissan box $1200 for the box rest - ?????
You mention that a kit is available. Where is this from. The only place i know of who do the conversion so far are Rangie spares and they don't do any kits (more money for them!).
