Hi all. A few weeks ago i got some 2" extended shackles from Superior Engineering. I'm very happy with the build quality of the units, and the price wasn't too bad either.
As I dont have a whole lot of time for working on my car, I decided to put the shackles in one weekend, then put the castor correction plates in a few weeks later. After putting them in, I noticed that there was a LOT more road noise than normal, and when turning, the front inside wheel really bit into the road, and the steering was similar to a go-kart. In the wet, the car was almost undriveable. These side effects WERE expected.
After putting the castor correction plates in, the steering returned almost to normal, and the road noise from the tyres dropped significantly. But, there is still a lot of noise at speeds over 75km/h. I'm only running 31" BF A/T's, but they sound like big mud chuckers. I am yet to go over the u-bolts and re-tension them (500km settle in is not up yet), but am i going to need a wheel alignment to solve my problem, or is there something that i'm missing??
Any suggestions??
Cheers - Coxy

Castor Correction With Extended Shackles
I am just about to do this mod.. I believe you have a MQ-MK any chance you can put me on to your guy with the shackles.. what they gunna cost me?? and I would assume a wheel alignment.. I guess if anything is askue they will let you know.. I myself rin 33" BFG MTR I love that whirring chunky sound.. get's me all exited for some mud slosshin """
I dont mind the drone of a good set of tyres, but this noise is not the sort of noise you want. It's like the "fix it soon before something breaks" kind of noise.
With the shackles, as far as i know there's only 2- maybe 3 suppliers. I got mine from Superior Engineering (do a search for their site). They've got LOADS of stuff to suit patrols, lux's, cruisers. everything. They cost $175 each end, with bushes included i think. Postage was $20 cause they're so heavy. They've also got upper and lower greasable pins, as a pose to the single greasables.
