Hi all.
Having a prob with auto trans - 4.0 Rangie. Car had 120K service, drove about 10k's, whizzy noise and no drive. Towed back to LR, they said the newly fitted oil filter inside the auto trans sump was faulty, sucking in air. They replaced/repaired at no charge, bless their souls. Picked up car last night, drove another 10k - SAME THING AGAIN - whizzy noise (oil pump cavitating) and no drive. Towed back and had to leave at dealer over long weekend, darn it.
Just wondering if anyone can offer further advice or information before I have to deal with LR again.
What else could cause this to happen?
(Apart from 'crinked' O-ring on filter)
It seems unlikely another faulty filter was fitted.
Thanks,
Hardy

Problem is probably 16 yr kid changing the auto filter.
Did they fix a rear main by any chance or remove the auto for any other reason?
I think the 4L auto is the fully electronic one maybe they let the smoke out of the ECU??
Try and find out more info somthing is sus mate!!

TD5 96 Discovery UTE.
Nothing major, just a routine service.
I did request a program re-flash for the gearbox ECU as it was doing the little surge thing (posted this up a while ago) upon stopping and doing a double shift between 3rd & 4th. A very subtle problem, they couldn't find any faults, electronic or physical.
Only work performed was a road test and standard service.
Not leaking any oil anywhere either.
I happened to speak with the 'kids' in the workshop, they seemed pretty cluey too.
Still, I'm not real big on using LR, prefer Ricks 4WD but just not convenient (1hr drive)
