caliper kits $8.00!
caliper kits $8.00!

Rang Nissan for a caliper overhaul kit and almost died when they told me they were well over $100.00 a side. So i decided to shop around and came across these blokes in Fairfield that had the kits instock at a cost of $8.00 per side.
I was a bit sus when i went up there to pick them up so i had a long hard look at them and found no difference at all. So i overhauled calipers and replaced all rubbers today.
Replaced brake fluid with new fluid too as you do :-).
I think Nissan really needs to wake up on parts prices. I know its not just Nissan ripping us off on prices, I believe the spare parts market is where the dealers are making their money after selling NEW products, and we guys are their target.
So shop around before buying anything, i saved over 200.00 today alone. That will go towards my next trip :-)
The place where i got great service and excellent prices is..
AND NO...i am not affiliated with them in any way.

Cheap kit, a caliper seal kit is a caliper seal kit weather you buy it from Nissan or Repco so it does pay to shop around, just remember that wont include a piston & it sounds like the Nissan one does for $100. As the piston is the sealing surface any little imperfection will make it leak. Expect to pay at least $50 for an aftermarket kit with a piston.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.

That was just a generalised statement as with everything they are all difernt prices. Gernerally the more heavier built & smalle production the more expensive.
Falcon caliper kits are cheap because their brakes are shit & play up all the time. Being a patrol they dont play up that much & tend to last longer.
I can get 3 different prices from 3 different Repco stores here in Canberra.

. Thats what we like to hear. I find a lot of steer, etc places tend to sell kits alot cheaper than ripco.
Rare spares dont even sell a rebuild kit for a kingswood/dore p/steer pump but a capital steer and susp in fyshwick i can get one for $20.
Go figure
Oh Yeah, And dont even get me started about my jag.

Parts to rebuild steering racks, pumps and boxes can be hard to come by as the risc is higher to sell parts to inexperienced people to rebuild these things.
Stuart at Capital Steering is generally reluctent to sell these things to just anybody & for the likes of Repco they make more money & have less hassle with warranty selling reconditioned units.
What about your jag?
