wheel spacers for RR
just wondering if anyone makes wheel spacers in brisbane or can order them thru the post in australia for rangie....want 2-3inch ones, dont want to cut and flip my rims because il be getting new wheels at a later date.
haultech perhaps?....i contacted artic cool treads and they said they can get someone they know to make them custom for $220 each ! but landcruiser ones cost around 100-150 depending on size / material

You sure that price is right Sam?
I was quoted $70 a rim by race engineering, and an extra $10 a rim if they needed to be flipped (which they did). Allan Richardson did them for just under $50 a rim, including welding the old valve holes and drilling new ones. They balanced up better than new with 33" tubeless MTR's. I will give anyone who PM's me his ph no. Don't want to post it on here as he works from home.

eastern ww welds the centre to the rim in five symetrical welds(with the stud holes.)
cracks transfer through welds very easily thats why stitch weld techniques are used.
he fixed it for free, grindind the weld, heating the wheel then welding again.
if it was one continous weld i would be a smear on the tanami somewhere

According to the Qld Transport site, wheel spacers are not permitted (on-road) which means, even if you used them offroad, you wouldn't be covered by insurance if something went wrong.

That is why it is ilegal to cut a rim and weld a strip in to widen it.
Disco rims are only welded in 5 places as well.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

Last I read the regs they said something like "more than one continuous circumferential seam is not allowed"
Disco steel rims (and most other rims) when stock do not have any circumferential seams AFAIK, the wheel is rolled from one piece of steel and then welded along a front-back seam, then the centre is welded in with 5 nice long welds.
I always thought the circumferential seam rule was to stop someone widening a rim (i.e. from 8" to 10") by cutting it through the middle and welding in a ring of metal - thereby giving the rim 2 circumferential seams.
However I agree with others that separate welds (like the disco rims has stock) are probably better than one continuous weld.

funny you say that as I wall lokking at having 1" wheel spacer made up with the new outer studs being the same as GQ/GU but was told not to bother in the end as it would cost big $$$$$
