18R or 18RG ?

Post by elgordomuygrande »

Hey fellas,

Just a little question. Does any of you have experience with the 18rg engine. while looking for a replacement for my aging 12r donk I found an ad for a 18rg, I know a little about the differences and output ratings, but don't know which one's the best to put in my f20. basically, which is the better truck engine?

Cheers Ron

The 18RG is a great thing, and very easy to fuel inject as well.
I put one into a celica once and it went hard.

Reviving this old thread :)

I finally sourced an 18rgeu. Unfortunately without inletmanifold and injection. but i was at a good price

So I'm now thinking of putting efi from a same size 4banger on it. I don't have anything specific in mind but I'd like it to be a multipoint system.

Chucky, what kind of efi do you recommend, considering it has no manifold.

Although I have quite a good understanding of the different EFI systems, I haven't done any EFI install myself. Will something like the EFI system from 2 litre dohc Ford Sierra donk make a good choice?

Any info appreciated

Cheers,
Ron

Edit: or would a MPI be a better/easier way to install
