just wondering if there is any easy way to bend some 3mm aluminium checkerplate that i am using to make some guards for the rear corners of my zook.
any ideas appreciated

take it to a metal fabrication / sheet metal worker - im sure theyll bend it for free if its simple!

big fat drainpipe (steel, concrete) rag to cover the checkerplate, piece of 4x2 and a mallet.
cut the plate as best you can, then lay the checkerplate over the pipe to the right angle for the bend/curve, then flog the piece of wood in the right place with the mallet.

The shape in the rear 3/4 of a sierra is a bit more complex than you think - most commercial rear corners have a cut and weld in then somewhere ( the spot varies) so they can have a bit of a bend in them becuse the rear corner is convex not straight up and down.

IMHO checkerplate looks hack and makes for lost capability ( no, really) because when you are sitting on it it grabs the tree/rock/bank/car and will make it harder to drive off of. Also, aluminium galls so when you are sitting against a rock it will drag and gouge. the rock will bite into it, again, making it harder to drive off.If it was me, I would go with about 2mm(not over) steel plate as this will let the car slide off of obstacles easily.
