rear speakers...
Anyone managed to somehow fit rear speakers into a Sierra ?
I wouldn't mind putting some 6x9s in the back of mine but I'm at a loss as to where they could go.

Yup, chuck some 6x9 in a couple of spacers into the tailgate or in the sideplates under the rear windows of a hardtop. Eith that or a set of 4"s will fit into the area of a softtop on the side panels.

Well I actually have some 6x9s around so I'd prefer to use them. I didn't think they'd fit into the side panels to be honest. For those that put them in the tailgate, is that without the back seats?
My only idea was put them in boxes on the floor, then figure out if I wanted the seats in or not. Sound quality vs practicality.

i got 6x9's in the gate... but theyre not sitting horizontal... i have them like this in the door: () () purely for space saving reasons. less likely to get whoppered by something in the tray.
theyre mounted on 20mm MDF covered in carpet... works a treat.
im in need of new ones soon though... the ones in there are 3 years old and the paper cone type - so theyre pretty crap now after that long in the sun/wet/mud/dust... i want to replace the MDF with aluminium sheet and some bolts to space the speaker out from the door for clearance.

speakers
well speaker wise, u can fit 6x9 or 7 x 10, get a bit of mdf and design a box for ontop of the rear wheel arches. i have done this and came out pretty good, after 5years of abuse my kenwood 7x10s finially gave up ghost. they use to be powered off an amp under drivers seat, you also can fit a reasonable size sub box behind those rear seats so i put 2 x 10 inch subs. um, could send photos drop me an email, or some one show mehow to post em.

go 6"
SPeaker boxes = shit sound
Use 6"
I bought 6x9s to put in.. but they wouldnt fit cause of the depth.. and there is no where to chamber the sound behind it..
got 2 x 6" in back and 2 x 4" in front.. awesome sound..
6x9s are shit go 6"
and A LOT easier to fit in.. remember 6x9s have lots of depth to them.. not just the actual size of them

depending, on them , i found my 7x 10 , to sound pretty good. but dont mount em up and down verticly, or they won't fit. i mounted mine at 45 and seems to fit well. those with a set of 6 inch splits, in the foot panels. sound is pretty damn good even with roof off. just , remember, with or with out a roof, a lot of noise goes out thru that area, so it can attract the odd cop.

I did a set of 6x9's in the rear tailgate I also attached some thick cloth to the metal because the strong magnet kept attracting to my wall. I also tossed a set of 6x9's into small 6x9 boxes that fit over the rear wheel wells and used the 2 holes already there to bolt them down. I used smooth head bolts and used a washer and nut on the inside of the box to attach to keep the tires safe while stuffing them. I also plan to run miata seats that have built in speakers in the headrest. i have also seen guys use the Wrangler sound bar.
Ive rigged up 2 round 6" speakers and a Rockford Fosgate 4channel amp on a piece of 25mm thick MDF straight to the back door and run all wiring under the floor mats. the amp is powering all 4 speakers in the car through a crappy pioneer cdplayer. the speakers are waterproof and the amp is stuck to the back door soooo tight that water (or mud) cant get down behind it. ill post some pics later....
I had 2, 6" speakers in the rear side panels. 2 tweaters on the dash, 2 normals in the kick panel. and 2, 10" subs in the rear. the thing went off.
