I had one of these, it was tops, I replaced it with a second hand no name one that came with a moter (it looked like new) the new one grips well, but is brutal, it is realy hard to ease up to some thing without it engaging with a bang

a bit off track im putting a clutch in just read how do you really need to drain oil, remove t case, remove exhaust,remove dizzy,remove starter,crossmember,driveshafts i know i may sound dumb but is it realy that much of a pain

Drain oil.
remove jackshafts from gbox to transfer, also front jackshaft to be easyier
remove starter
Remove gearstick.
remove gbox crossmember
remove sender wires from top of box and also clutch cable.
remove bolts in box and drop box out.

one thing iv forgotten how heavy is the box its just that i had a shoulder reco 11 weeks go

Weight is about 25kg, so nothing realy. Just go easy on the shoulder, and if ya worried get a mate to help, but realy its easy as piss to do by yourself.

ok i dont know if im tyred blind or just dont have a clue but i caint get the bitch box back up its like i need 1cm more room is there a particular way it goes back in bell end first or shift end first

you need to fit the back end first. make sure you sit the gearbox rear mounting holes onto the xmember...

then rotate the top of the box towards the drivers side and push up...

it will go strait in.

I have found some sierra's much easier than others to get the box back into as the small rib near the gearbox output will not allow the box to go back far enough .. if you cut a small V (bout 1 cm deep) shape into the rear crossmember it can make life soooo much easier (amazing how being able to move the box back that extra 7 or 8 mm can make the difference of 10 mins to refit the box or 40 mins)

man, u guys are lucky!!! 25kg! i had to take my vit gbox out by myself, and it was near on 60kg.

Are you sure that they are 60Kg .. if so I am much stronger than I thought ...

ok the clutch is in and i drove it today and it has the lightest pedal i have ever felt it is almost ajustedall the way. did i do something wrong or will i wear in or is it a light feeling clutch

I just put a standard one put back in my zook, and it has a light feel aswell. I wouldnt worry, unless it is slipping that is. THe other thing is i was talking to the guy from one stop suzi shop and he ran a 180 hp vitara turbo powered trayback suzuki, and was only using the standard clutch. I guess this would stop the gearbox from taking too much load.

mines had a daikin clutch in for about 8 years now... considering the way i drive and that its had a 1.6 pushing 31's with tcase gears for 2 years i'd have thought it'd be dead by now - but its going strong as ever.

slips a touch if im flat out redlining and dumping the clutch but other than that no issues yet.

Yeh im also running a no-name clutch behind my Baleno 1.6 and it has never slipped on me.
