Volvo Portals. N.A.M?

Thanks for the encouragement, but I bet you're just waiting for this to blow up in my face. Either way, it's fun to watch from the sidelines.
WTF street tyres??????
There is no way you will ever get this thing regoed with a wheel track like you will have on a zook. And if you are going to risk driving it on the road then good luck to you cause the first time a cop drives past you may as well get out and start walking.
Thanks Jamie but i worked it out now it was just that the torque tube thing was confusing me but now Rob pointed out what Steve was talking about(traction bars) it made sence. Ive seen heaps of pics and info on them and i am still not totaly convinced they will do the job with what we drive here. Especialy now Steve said he knows of an axle breaking just from getting some traction in mud.
Tony, I had the same thoughts as you are having, thinking that the volvo was going to be a cheap portal, but after talking to alot of people and doing my homework I found that they are no stronger than what I already have, and for anything bigger than a 37" tire you will be pushing it.
If you are running a light rig and big tires things will probably be ok but on a heavy rig, I dont think so.

Sorry about the torque rod/tube confusion I was just being descriptive, forgetting the technicalities as the "traction bar" really is just a triangular shaped tube. My bad.
Could you do me a favour and see how much the rubber boot for the CV joint costs? We can get it from Volvo Malaysia, but at MOD prices.
Well, the guy was apparently gunning it, and I think that's asking for trouble no matter what axles you've got. You can imagine the destructive torque loads on the half shaft going from a few hundred rpm to zero in a split second.
The axles were made to haul 5 tonnes (truck + load) so I would guess that they would be strong enough for any truck up to 3 tonnes. Then again, I'm not sure what kind of torture you guys put your rigs through in rock crawling!
Did the Oz military use C3's? If they did, maybe you guys can help me get the 5.99:1 third members ;-)
You can also still get parts for the C303 and C304 at the local Volvo dealer or give me a yell and i will see what i can do.

Also i dont understand why you would import them when there are heaps of them allready here. You just got to know where to look.
