Gday
80 series box's are as strong as u will get, if you removed a 1hz, the current adapter may fit the 80 box...they are h150's, have 4.5 first, 2.45 lowrange and 5th is as strong as the rest...

Did you blow it up or wear it out.
My 5speed handled 5000rpm flat changes with a good 351 with no problems. It would smoke 33' into 2nd. 3yrs of abuse with no problems.
I'm not stuck I'm over here!
Watch where you driven!!!

There is a 5 speed gearbox fitted in Chev trucks in the States called the NV4500. It was available from 1993 onward. The first gear is 6.34 ratio in the first two years and 5.61 thereafter. Advance Adapters makes the kit to mate this gearbox to the 75 landcruiser transfer unless yours had the petrol 1FZ.

It is very particular as to the gear oil it uses as it has synthetic synchro rings, which is the main point of criticism for this gearbox.

In Australia, do the Holden Suburbans come with 5 speeds? These may be a source down under, but here they are mainly in the 93-onwards Chev and GMC pick ups 1/2 ton to 1 ton. Dodge also sells a version of the NV4500 behind the 5.9L Cummins.
