F6A Engine / Gearbox

Post by greg »

Hi All,

I'm (still) trying to locate an F6A Gearbox out of a JA11 or JA12 Jimny from Japan.

I have been ringing a few importers about this and none of them seem able to import just a box for me - in fact the closest I have come is finding mark at Suziworx who is prepared to import a whole front cut for me - but as you can guess - i only need the gearbox.

So, here's my questions:

1. does anyone want the engine out of a JA11/JA12 front cut? It would be a single cam 3 cylinder 660 turbo. perhaps it could be used in a Mighty Boy or similar? I would be happy to buy one of these front cuts complete off Suziworx and just take the gearbox out of it.

2. does anyone else know where i might be able to buy just the gearbox out of one of these little cars (the jimny - not the mighty boy)?

I didn't put this in the wanted section because it's a bit more of a question / discussion then a typical "i want part A" type request.

Cheers,
Greg

Will a 1 litre 5 speed work properly for your application ??

PM Gutless as his brother is living in japan (or he was) and may be able to help you out by sourcing the gearbox in Japan without the need for the half cut

Well if you buy the frontcut i got dibs on the hood :P

but it may be easier to sell it to a Sierra owner than a mighty boy cause of the north south east west engine thing, does the F6a have the same bolt pattern as the f10a?

thanks for the replies folks..

I've gotten hold of gutless - who is also hiding under another name on the suzisport forum...

The 1L 5 speed is unlikely to fit... the blocks of the F6A and G10 are different so there will be some fly-wheel / starter motor issues to contend with i think.

Currently i have a few leads that I am working on... if they don't come through i might just end up snapping up a whole front cut and parting out what i don't need / can't use...

We had someone on nbs forum looking at trying to get a 660cc turbo engine so you might be able to do a deal with them.

Unfortunately being brisbane based the costs in transport one way or the other would probably be too hard.

Have help for you except that I thought the 410 had the f10a engine in them , not the g10a . Well my mates one did anyway . The later model 1.0 suzuki's must get the g10a I guess .

Chris, the late model marutis came out with a standard 1 litre 5sp box, and G10a motor. Or atleast mine did :?
