2 or 3 Batteries?

I`m in the process of rewiring the Hilux and moving my batteries to under the front of my tray (will have lift up door). ATM I have mounted the 2 batteries with the compressor between them, but if I move the compressor I can simply drop a 3rd battery in there, so its no more effort for me to run 3.

Basicly what I`m getting at is do you think it is worth running 3 batteries?

3, y wood u need 3 ?? winching ?? i dont have a winch but i thought that 2 wood b plenty for winching but i guess it woodnt hyrt as u do alot of comps if u can fit 3 just do it now i guess.

and u stole my idea i have boxes gettin made up 2 go under my try for batteries and tools and spares with access thru the floor

but seriously is the only reason u want 3 is so u have extra power 4 winching in comps ????

I`m only thinking about 3 because I can

and its NO more effort to fit em.

But yes for winching it would be good, plus I have in total 10 extra lights (getting 4 more when $$$ allow) on my rig so it wouldn`t hert to have the extra storage of battery power.

Guts If you can fit them and its no extra effort it would be worth it for the winching.

Has anyone used 12 DC circuit breakers on their rig? i`m thinking of using them instead of fuses as this way I wouldn`t have to carry spares

But want to know if anyone has had any problems with them tripping off from vibrations etc on ruff roads.

Now does somebody want to come and fit my new front housing as I couldn`t be bothered :roll:

I think 3 would be a good idea in your rig because we all know how much you need to winch :finger:

Yer Guts has a BUT vibrator that draws too much and needs 3 batteries and a alt that puts out atleast 250 Amps. I think you would be better off bolting a jenny on the tray of your POS so you have no voltage drop= more vibration from the device. :lol:

You forgot to meantion that it has a second remote head that is just for you :finger:

You might want to investigate circuit breakers thoroughly, they don't trip straight away once the rated current is reached. From memory some can supply up to 200% of the rated current for a period of time ( hmmmm....what's that smell???.... BURNING WIRE!!

I do know about cb`s as I am an electrican

They do have a tolerance of around + or - 5 to 10% and they work by just heating up a copper strip (the english explaination)

Explain to me how I can draw 32 amps (mig) through the factory fitted 15 amp plug, through 20 amp cable and 20 amp circuit braker and only drop it out every once in a while. :?:

Possibly only drawing 32A for small amounts of time, doesn`t have time to heat the strip up propaly.

My brothers mig which only has a factory 10A plug on it trips a 20A breaker very often.

Its called gremlins :roll:

Its like motors, when running it might only draw say 10A but on start up will draw say 50A but its only for a short period of time so it doesn`t trip the 10A breaker.

We put a test on it while I welded and it drew a constant 32 amps. :shock:

All fixed, re-wired the mig and everything back to the board.
