Bigger motor 3b to 1hz
has any one gone the swap yet. im want to go bigger and more power full than the 3b. was think 1hz as they are alright to drive but want a 12ht but seem pricey. so its down to a 15b or 13bt or simalar has any one acutaly seem them and have photos. also any one know of anyone who has one for sale thanks chris

the 14bt shits all over a 1hz i know of 2 guy's who have done the conversion and the 15bt has more power again
i was goin to do that conversion earlyer in the year but with most projects the funds were nowhere to be found
do a search on this subject and you will find threads on it the best price i got on the eng was from a mob up in QLD

tidy42 is there any chance you beening able to get pics. as im wanting to get more power. i was looking at 5 grand for a total cost but when i saw the prices i changed my mind its almost worth going for chevy v8 diesel for the costs and time invloved and i want to stay away from a petrol 8 although they are great fun

i just thought i'd let oyu guys now ive decided to go a 1hz have purchased the engine was the cheapest option for more power and im happy with the power it puts out.
also has anyone done the swap with 1hz using their orginal gearbox and what mods did you have to do. input shaft engine mounts, radiators thanks chris

you'll need to get a bellhousing from a HZJ75, they were the only trucks to have a 1HZ with H55F gearbox. as for input shaft I think you might be ok, really not sure though. someone (beanz2, dow50r) will know. a better option would be to get a full setup out of a HZJ75 or even a H150F and transfer out of an 80 series, better gearing and stronger and quieter. not to mention easier to get your hands on than a HZJ75 bellhousing.Ruggers wrote:i just thought i'd let oyu guys now ive decided to go a 1hz have purchased the engine was the cheapest option for more power and im happy with the power it puts out.

the 1HZ takes to turboing quite well, so there's plenty of power there if you want it!

shop around but I reckon you'll find that the price of bellhousing and input shaft (both of which you might have to buy new), plus the cost of tearing down your geabox to replace the input shaft, will probably exceed the price of picking up a gearbox and transfer from a 75 or 80 - and then you have a complete 3B, gearbox and transfer to sell.
out of interested what did you pay for your 1HZ - what km, and what accessories did it come with?

bellhousing adaptor would be a possibility, if the difference is >15mm ish - to allow for counterbores for all the bolt heads and sifficient meat to bolt to. I doubt anyone makes one though, and you'd want to be pretty handy to home build one. it's probably not something I would want to have a crack at - a lot of labour involved and the penalty for a small mistake is 'start over'.
shoot dow50r a pm, he's probably got a gearbox or three lying around.
