while your at it, you might aswell get one for each axle, therfor we only need 50 people, shouldn't be to hard..

50 people willing to all pay out at once for two Detroit lockers to suit a Rocky............ Good luck with that one!

They will only fit the F70, F75 etc Rocky- not the Feroza / US Rocky.

Have a read of the thread in the link above. It's from around 2003 and nothing has happened.

Similar things have been organised for Ferozas in the past, but they couldn't get even five people willing to come up with the cash (IIRC?)

A fair few companies still list them in their cattledogs, LDS being one of them, but dont have them in stock. They would order them in from the states as needed.

when I rang them they qouted aboot 1100/1200 (depending on model) euros for a locker (incl tax) that was without shipping.
I read a good review in a US magazine in which they stated that it was a good alternative for the known brands. Too bad can't find it...

Edit: found this though..

I still think, an axle swap from a common (stronger) donor would be the best way to go.

Rather than chasing these dodgy diff manufacturers in god knows where.

Hello,
I'am from belgium and i order 2 lockers for my F50 (scat) and 2 for my friends Rocky by the company in germany: offrotec, they cost 1250 euro each without schipping. When you have a car they dont have in their range, they make it special for you, even 1 piece. :D
there e-mail is: info@offrotec.com

Thanks for the info Gonzo. Just did a rough conversion and Euro 1250 is very close to AUD$2000; plus shipping and import duty etc.

Just a thought. Does anyone know what we can do to make out stock halfshafts stronger?
Coz i notice many rocky owners back here breaking their axles when they go more than 31 inch....

Neh neh neh i got a rear detroit locker and a front lsd......

Hey Bundy,
just wondering do u have this odd problem? My locker, once in awhile when i put the powerdown in a straight line it goes into 1wd momentarily, and then suddenly it "BANGS" in a full lock...
I wonder can detroit lockers be reconditioned?

Godzilla
Yes, its normal. Usually from too much power applied too early after completing a corner. Its usually accompanied by a quick snap in the steering. Its one of the things you have to adjust your driving style for.

Diff locks

Post by Benszook »

There is a diff specialist out north of adelaide who told me he used to make lockers for early model rockys. He said if you supply him a centre he can make a pneumatic locker for anything. I dont know how much. I looked for his number in the yellow pages and I think his business is 4x4 transmissions his phone no. is 8266 6288. Hope I can be of some help because I can buy lockers off the shelf as I have hilux diffs in now.

Well my problem is when i move off from a traffic light. No problems around corners though. The backlash is far more excessive then normal.

Hence when i move off a traffic light it would turn right b4 it BANGS lock and go straight. Probably the springs are getting weak after years of shagging the daylights out of her.
Then again we cant complaint coz we got one and others just drool over it hahahaha.
