A diesel fan will not fit a petrol viscouse hub and vise verses but a complete unit is interchangable that is Fan and Hub will go on either Petrol or Diesel.

If it does seem to not be working you can drill and tap a drain hole into the petrol hub. Sparky had that done on his Shorty petrol GQ when he had it.
They just refilled it with more oil stuff.

that would be the perfect idea, but im looking to replace as the hub is actually rocking on the shaft, the bearings(if they have them) are shot
thanks for the advice anyway will keep it in mind for the next one.

I have a hub and fan here for sale. The hub is the one that you can pull apart and refill which it has been done. $170

adding to this...

I'm assuming the smaller fan is on the diesel and larger on the petrol?

my fan collided with some mud and needs replacing but i cant be assed messing around taking the shroud off tonight to measure the bolts and i gotta send someone else to go collect the fan for me while I'm at work tommorrow.

You cannot pull some hubs apart. The one with eight bolts is the one you want and you just have to lever it apart and nothing will come flying out at you either.
