I'm hoping someone can help me out so I don't have to bend over and take it from Toyota.
I spent all day yesterday with a mate replacing the seals in my HJ60 power steering pump. All was going pretty well until one of the 6 bolts that hold the pump together snapped. It wasn't cross threaded, still don't understand how it happened as it snapped well below the specified torque setting of 46Nm. Anyway, the problem is that these bolts have a lip near the head and take an o-ring, so no wrecker or bolt shop I've spoken to can help me. Toyota want $55.30 for ONE BOLT! Since when did robbery stop being a crime in this country?
Wreckers are happy to sell me an entire pump, but that's more expensive than a bolt and I don't need it.
Anyone on here wrecking an HJ60? Can anyone source a single bolt from a slipper type power steering pump for me?
If I don't get anywhere by this arvo, I'll have to bend over and order one from Toyota as the car is stuck in my mates shed until we get the pump back together and into the car.

I've tried that...got to the point that I rang Canberra Toyota again to order the bolt...even at their ridiculous price...and it gets better. I can order it and it should get here in about 3-4 weeksShadow wrote:first place id try is a power steering joint
quite opften they junk the pumps that arent rebuildable, and usually have heaps of them in thier parts bin.
Id be very surprised if you cannot get one for $5 from a power steering place.
I tried to save money doing this myself. If I order this bolt and nothing else goes wrong...the exercise will have cost me about $140...but the car has to be off the road for a month.
Why the hell didn't I just take it to a power steering place.
One day I'll try a DIY and nothing will go wrong. it seems of all the parts that could have broken and all the things that could have gone wrong...this bolt is the single worst possible thing to have broken as they have none in Aus and cost a fortune.
