How to trace a loose connection?

Hi guys,
I think my lux has a loose connection somewhere:

On some bumps, all the lights flicker, and the stereo turns off (and then turns itself back on again)

I haven't blown a fuse ever, so that would seem to rule out a short.

Any ideas on where to start?

I've had a quick look around and it's nothing obvious. The earth lead is new.

The battery seems to be a little weak also, could this fault be internal to the battery in any way?

This is unliley but worth mentioning - check the battery terminals are nice and tight. Exactly what you've described has happened to me before (accessories dying when hitting a bump), and I just needed to tighen my terminals.

Try moving all the wiring looms in the engine bay around while it's running and see if you can get it to fail. Try the same under your dash.

PS: keep clear of the coil and ignition leads if it's a petrol engine!!

i would bat terminals loose if not check your earth again if it is new it might not be connecting good enough

It's not the battery terminals, I'm not lucky enough to have a problem that is so easy to fix

I'll try moving random wires around in the engine bay to see if I can find it.

if you can get a small am radio and tune it in to a where there is no station , hold it near the wiring loom as you wriggle the cable any poor conection will produce a loud crackling. that may get you close to the source of the problem.

id be checking ya fusible links usally they should be on ya positive batt terminal if they heat up they can break and could be the cause
