hi Guys i have 2 diffs from a hilux iam wondering if u guys could tell me what the gear ratios would be the first is an 85 4 runner 2.4 diesel and the second is a 12 83 2l petrol hilux extra cab

4runner is most likely 4.5 & i think the other could be 4.88

the 83 is most probable a 4.88, shouldnt there be an engraving on the diff housing?

Count the number of teeth on the crownwheel and divide it by the number of teeth on the pinion.Then you have the ratio.

if the diff is still in the housing, then you can turn the wheel/hub/axle and count the number of turns on the pinion flange., turn the wheel/hub/axle 10 times and count the turns of the pinion flange and that will tell you the ratio to within a reasonable accuracy (ie can tell difference between 5.88 and 5.7*)
