heat with oxy should get it.

you want to heat only the plug, not the transfercase aswell.

you could also try hitting it, not too hard as to fracture the alloy housing, but hard enough that it loosenes itself in the threead, failing that, weld a nut to the back of it, and try a big rattle gun.

Heating the tcase should allow that metal to expand more than the plug and break the seal(especially since it is alloy). Heating the plug will only make the therad bind more. A couple of decent sized bangs to the plug with a centerpunch may also loosen the grip further while the surrounding tcase is hot.

Other option which would end up in considerably more work, would be to drill and Ezi-Out the plug, or drill out the plug to within an inch of its life, then carefully cutting down to the thread with a round diamond blade. Both of these options are only viable if you are prepared to open up the case to remove the filings.

I striped both gearbox bungs on my Subaru WRX STi... they are some odd gas thread thing... Anyway, I used a speed wrench and they came straight out. If you don't know a speed wrench is a little like a small pipe wrench in that the harder you turn, the tighter it grips. Worked a treat!
