suggestions for my next mod

Post by ryna »

my springs are inverted on my spoa..

I love the flexyness, but i need more room for my tyres (32's) cos atm the front tyres hit on the bodymount just behind the firewall at full flex.

I wanna do a RUF and just move the whole axle out the way

I dont know how to weld though.

But i have a full set of 2:lifted springs here.

I was thinking, could i redrill perches to move axle 25mm forward, and then is there a way that i could combine the packs, 2"lift springs + my springs so its not huge and not stiff as??

use every other leaf from your pack, and the load leaf or one up from it rather than yours... dont know about lifting it - but at least it would stop it inverting =)

could also just run the main leaf from 2" kit, and all your leaves, but it will prolly sag...

I'd just whack the whole 2" lot under there myself and wait for it to soften on its own... takes about 3 months.

can you redrill through the spring packs and offset the pin?? or is it dangerous??

Cos that way i could move my diff forward a fair bit.

from posts ive read in the past, it seems a few people do it with little or no consequence... i think i'd prefer to do at at LEAST 1" from the existing holes though - just as a strength precaution... cos another hole would almost certainly weaken it, especially if the hole was close. But im no suspension specialist... perhaps phone WA Suspensions - tell em you got a 2" spring kit off them and want them to re-drill the pack for you to move diff forward - see what they say =)

I thought i read some guys found springs with the hole "off centre" out of the rear of some vehicle,(i won't say a make) as i don't remember.
A sugestion , go to the wreckers with measurements of what you have and what you would like and look around.
might save yourself alot of money and time or waste time ;)

everythings sweet, i fitted my 2" springs again and moved my axle 32mm forward (i had big enough spring perches) just by redrilling the perches and plate. I dont need it anymore forward for now, will wait til i do RUF.

But now at least im a bit higher (i have a low spoa so its not crazy)

and i have a little firmer springs cos my old ones were bottoming out real easy, especially driving fast through bush tracks and hitting little ruts or holes.

So will see how it goes offroad.
