whilst on the lgp topics...

Post by mechtech »

has anyone out there have/had a dual lgp tank set up,, currently i have a 88' lux with the 3y crab,, on dual fuel, i have just been given another complete gas setup (sweet) tank, converter and mixer, off a vn, on the hi lux it has two solanoids, one one the gas tank @ the tap and one before coverter, now, what i was thinking was, is it possable to have one swich toggling between petrol and gas (at converter) and the second switch (which recives + when swiched to gas) toggles between 1st and 2nd tank if i have a another solanoid at the 2nd tanks tap....???
or ditch the 1st tank solanoid, have them plumed together, (i assume they will feed the same pressure untill they both run dry?)
what do you recon,, (and yea, i'm not pluming it myself, ;+)
whatsup...
The man they couldn't r@#t, shoot or electrocute......

here are the basics,

you wire the two solinoids into the one switch and get a special valve to connect the two gas lines that head to the converter so the tanks don't fill each other up. Then you just need a Y piece so you can fill them off the one filler piece.

Last time I priced the gas line connector was about $80 and I have never priced the filler Y piece

I did some research before plumbing a second tank on a 60 some years ago. As already mentioned you require a special valve the equalises the pressure between the 2 tanks as they are being used (cant remember the name of the valve) and a Y piece on the inlet side. The tanks should have the normal valves to cut out when approx 80% full.

Not that difficult to do but make sure you get all the required parts for safety reasons. It would pay to ring a couple of gas installation guys to get more info.

Cheers
