Sierra Universal Joints

Post by Roady »

Could someone give me a partcode or advice in regards to the uni's on my 88 WT Sierra.

I went down to Repco but they wanted $160 (40 a pop).
The Heavy duty ones for my VN SS weren't that much.

Am I being cheap or is that a fair price??

Sierra 1.3 (and Vitara) use non OE Uni Joint P/No. RUJ1783 ie. GMB etc. Most places use this P/No. except for CBC (their P/No. starts with a K, but can't remember the rest). Most non genuine UJ's using the P/No. RUJ1783 have grease nipples.

1.0's have internal

1.3's external.

same cup size, thats why hybrid yokes can be used for conversions

I've never had a problem with GMB UJ's but everybody else I talk to has had the opposite experience. The other UJ that I have found to be good is the CBC product. Really, you can really only go by personel experience-my experience comes from over twenty years of selling Suzuki genuine and non genuine parts.

However, GMB waterpumps are very hard to fault.

Every chance that your UJ's are incorrect if they have an internal circlip. The P/No. for 1.0l Sierra is RUJ1795, which are an internal circlip.

Hi , while on the subject of universals-- How does one change the universals on a 410 ? , I cant see any clips so I guess they must be internal.

It's just a quality thing, some manufacturers take shortcuts in their production techniques of which you won't be able to do to much about.
