2" leaves no bigger than standard - urgent!

Post by rockcrawler31 »

Righto.

Got a 2" lift kit from a very reputable supplier of aftermarket springs, for a 91 troopcarrier

Have truck perched precariously on big ass axle stands, rear tyres off, rear springs off too.

Problem is, after i took off the (standard from factory) original springs and compared them to the newies there is no more than 10mm difference in height in the arch.

the new ones have an extra leaf in either end to compensate for extra stuff i carry all the time.

Can any one tell me if the new ones should have a taller arch in comparison when off the vehicle, or am i missing something.

This is kinda urgent as i don't want to go and fit them (turningout to be a difficult job) and find out that they have to be returned because they aren't 2" higher as ordered. I need to have them on and running in ten days so i can go away

i think the only way to tell is when fitted and loaded up.

it may not matter on the arch, as you say it has an additional leaf, so the spring rates are different, and you might still get your 2 INches of lift

have you taken any measurements on the old springs to be able to compare between the old and new??

I think also that your lift will be from the spring rate, and not so much the arch. I wouldn't have thought they could give you a lot more arch without extending the shackles which they cant afford to do.

yeah, i do this regularly.

order parts for major modification to my truck a week or two before i go on a trip. do it myself to try and save cash. then give it to someone to fix coz i either stuffed it up or ran out of time and need it done yesterday

seems i'm not happy unless i'm putting myself under pressure

cheers guys
