carbon canister hoses - where do they go?

Post by noelp »

Hi there,
I have an Australian 92 elIII feroza which I am repairing after a fairly major front end collision (bought it as an insurance write off). The carbon canister (I think) on the rh inner guard next to the brake master cylinder has 3 hoses coming out - one thin hard plastic and 2 rubber about 12mm outside diameter. The 2 rubber ones are in parallel for the first 150mm of travel or so and one goes to a steel pipe fitting leadng back to the petrol tank. The other on mine goes to a plastic nipple shaped fitting which is hanging down and not attached any where. It looks like it should probably go to the inlet manifold or join onto another hose, but for the life of me I can't find out where it should go. Could someone have a look at theirs and tell me please? Many thanks,
Noel.

hi Kent,
Thanks for the piccy - where does the larger rubber one go from the top of the canister? Mine goes to the little plastic fitting you can see in the line on yours, but then where does the hose go to? Mine is not connected to anything and I can't find any hoses lying free that it should plug in to.

The hose should have a plastic thingy in the end of it and it plugs into a hole in the frame...it doesn't go anywhere it's just a vent.

Many thanks Kent! I spent an hour or so trying to find out where it was supposed to go to!
