Lots Of Gearing Information for Sierras
just read what others have posted regarding ratios.
i only posted a reply for gutless, coz i had found the vit ratios the same day he asked.
everyone else reads the thread and gets out their calculator/abacus/excel/stick-in-sand/pen-and-paper and works it out.
crawl ratio = gearbox 1st gear x transfer gear low ratio x diff ratio

Bad JuJu, if the s3 brings your high range down 21%, and the 32" tyres take it up 23%, then your speedo should be about 2% out of whack.
on standard tyres, when your speedo reads 100km/h, youre actually doing 79km/h
then you put on your 23% larger, 32.6" tyres, and youre doing 102km/h

The reason I asked is cause at 80km/h on the speedo, gps says im doing 101km/hmunga wrote:Bad JuJu, if the s3 brings your high range down 21%, and the 32" tyres take it up 23%, then your speedo should be about 2% out of whack.

i recall someone saying anything over 100 crawl ratio is useless. Im starting to agree with them. I like the 119.6 on off camber stuff, but as i found out on real steep rocks its too slow. & whats worse, 2nd isnt low enough to give me the control i want. So im gonna change from 5.29s to 4.56s, coming down to 103.15. im hoping this will work out nicely...ofr57 wrote:3.652 x 6.50 x 5.125 = 121.65725

if it doesnt, i get 16% better economy, & 16% more top end, so it wont be a total loss.
I guess it all depends on what tyre size you are running. When i had 33s i was at 92:1 which was perfect but now i have the 37s i needed lower gearing as i had to bump the clutch all the time to get up vertical inclines.I could not afford to ahange the diff ratios cause i would have had to but aftermarket ratios so i went wth duals.CAP51Z wrote:i recall someone saying anything over 100 crawl ratio is useless. If i had 138.67 my 2nd gear would be useful. Id probably never use 1st. I run 36 ET2s, so your probably half a gear lower than me on 37s. Part of it is also PSI, as i was running 6-7 PSI, now im runnin 5PSI front & 4-4.5PSI Rear, with better grip aiding the crawlability. I still want a tad faster, so onwards i go.
