HELP! Safari electrics/IPF lights

Post by mabsydney »

I replaced the gh'ey yellow lens IPF driving lights/fog lights with my IPF driving lights (actually the same unit, 900 round ones).

The passenger side appears to work fine, but drivers side gets way hot and the globe blows after about a minute.

I'm using 24v, 130W IPF globes, the ones I pulled out were 24V, 100W in the fog lights.

I've checked the fuses......one was blown.......replaced it.......... and I've checked the voltage at each light with the globes disconnected......27.6V.........I know the voltage may be different under load, but I don't want to put another $28 globe in there and watch it blow while I try to measure the voltage across it.

I can't see anything wrong with the wiring..........any ideas???

...or should I just pull the whole lot out and fit lightforce with a new loom

Thanks,

Martin
