Take the ALT back and get it checked, should be way higher than 20v at idle (as stated earlier).

what 12v stuff if any do you have one there? When 12v gear is hooked up to one battery in a 24v circuit it will drain the weaker battery. My shorty safari does this and I only have my stereo on there, used to have amps and subs connected but found that they drained it waaaay to much. Mine will go flat about once every 2 months or so. I just got used to it and charge it up

Don't hook up your 12v gear to one battery! I did that on a relations truck for his alarm and it stuffed the batteries (one overcharges and the other gets undercharged ;) )

Luckily they covered it under warranty......

HAVE YOU TRIED TAKING ONE OF YOUR BATTERY LEADS OFF (WITH EVERYTHING OFF) AND PUT A MULTIMETER ON AMPS IN CIRCUIT YOU MAY FIND THAT SOMETHING IS DRAWING POWER THAT YOU DONT KNOW OF. ALSO IF THE ALTERNATOR DIODES ARE PLAYING UP THEY WILL ALLOW POWER BACK THRU FLATTENING YOUR BATTERY! jUST A THOUGHT I HAD THE SAME DRAMA ON MY ONE TONNER

Doesn't matter which lead as they're in series. Just do the one to the chassis earth and put the multimeter in there.

Just a update on whats happening auto elec pulled apart the alt and found 2 burnt diodes. Which could be the reason for flat batteries as ZAPPGQ said. Have not got any clarafication(spelling) on why this could of happen, the auto elec was still having a go at me cause there was dirt in it :roll:when i was walking out. He is being really negative about the whole mq 24v thing saying they are shyte (sort of know that) but he even told me to throw the whole truck on dump pile (by the way hes never seen the truck just the alt) when i ask him about getting it more reliable, the electrical system thats is.
Anyway time to start taking it to another auto elec, i found one closer to home who seems to know whats going on he also does truck and earthmoving gear so he knows 24v stuff backwards. He also wasnt negative about my truck.I will hopefully get the alt back this arvo repaired by the first guy at no charge i think, cause he did the whole thing up a couple of months ago, then i stick with the new guy from know on.

rant over sorry :D

Good to hear you are getting it sorted. There is nothing worse when talkin to a professional and all you get is negative!! Doesnt help the problem or the temper

get both ya batteries checked for a collapsed cell . it will drain the good one overnight if a couple of plates are rooted

had this happen in my GQ the aux. battery had 2 collapsed cells and kept pulling the charge outta the cranking battery

enter the isloator and new battery and ALL IS GOOD ( for now :P )
just a little left of insanity :)
