CUSTOM DUAL BATTERY SETUP

Post by ZAPPAGQ »

Just thought I would tell you guys about the dual battery setup in my Patrol. It had dual batteries with the normal ignition switched solenoid. But what I found was that when fishin with the engel goin all day (a MUST) and the floody at night there wasnt enough time to charge up the sec battery. So I wanted to work out a way that I could isolate the starting battery so that the alt thought the sec battery was the main and give it full charge instead of the trickle it was getting. I didnt want one of those big ass switches or the newer setups because of their small current rating. No good for winches. So Ive fitted another sloenoid to the main batt and ran all wires of the other side. I have a switch on the dash and when actuated all battery charge goes to the sec battery. Works very well and has the added benefit of when switched can start of sec batt. Has anyone else done this or see any flaws in its design, was pretty easy to instal. just had to run a constant wire fo the clock and stereo memory.
