G'day,

I've done a shackle reversal on the sprung over SWB. The front diff perches are welded paralel to the factory ones. This has obviously resulted in a crazy front drive shaft angle now the shackle reversal is complete. Does anyone have details on what angle i should rotate the diff perches so the diff output doesn't point at the ground when my wheels drop away? I was thinking 3-4 degrees...maybe more??

Here you will find all the info you need, it is not a reverse shackle set up, but is used on a SOA.
I made the same on my Patrol which use reversed shackle and it worked great!

My front perches were rotated 7 degrees before the shackle reversal... i now have 4 degree wedges in it and its OK, but i still need to rotate it up abit more.....
i have lux leaves in the front and it makes my angle worse cause of the long leaves then urs is....... but all the same...

i rekcon your going to need about a 8 degree rotation depending on how bad the angle is now

idealy..... did u cut your knuckles and rotate your diff up at the knuckles before? or just on the perches?

i reckon just cut them off and rotate it up till you have the same pinion angle you had before if u measured it or took any pics of how inline with the shaft it is......

does your front shaft bind on itself on down travel because of the angle?

What YOU have to decide is what castor angle YOU want..........

Std Nissan Castor angle is 3 degrees on "good" spring paks

I've done two SOA's out to 15 degrees and had no dramas at all and found it works really shyte hot off road.....
My rig is set @ 11 degrees and I've done a couple @ 10 degrees .... these rigs road handling are excelent and off road handling is excelent too...... just to give you an idea I have done just over 46,000K's in my SOA'd rig on 35"BFG's and as a result had to "finally" fit a new set of tyres. The old tyres wore well and had even wear across the full width of the tread, I can happily punt my rig down the black top @ speeds well over the limit ( read 160kph + ) without ANY handling dramas at all, she tracks dead straight with hands off the steeringwheel @ 100kph.

I've done 3 SOA's @ 8 degrees and again with no complaints to date.

I set Jeffs POS @ 7 degrees originally as he was a bit of a blouse when it came to deciding on a degree to run with so I went "middle of the road" on it.

Recently I did an SOA @ 5 degrees and although I found it "ok" both on & off road it lacked a tad in the off road dept but was very similar to the std setting of 3 degrees in its "drivability".
Even tho this rig is on 36" rubber I found it was slow to respond offroad and was damn near imposiable to get it to drift with any real "feel" through the steering wheel as to where it was or what it was doing..... chucking it sideways was a major fight in its self......... not my cupa tea thats for sure ..... sideways is so much more fun
