I did a search and checked the bible with no luck,
can someone direct me to a place that has a comprehensive list of Diahatsu 4x4 models please?

FE 1.0l petrol:
F10S short body, softtop
F10SK short body, softtop, steel doors
F10J long body, softtop
F10JK long body, softtop, steel doors

12R 1.6l petrol
F20S short body, softtop
F20SK short body, softtop, steel doors
F20J long body, softtop
F20JK long body, softtop, steel doors
F20JKB long body, resin top, steel doors
F20V metaltop
F25 pickup

DG 2.5l diesel:
F50J long body, softtop
F50JK long body, softtop, steel doors
F50JKB long body, resin top, steel doors
F50V metaltop
F55 pickup

DL 2.8 diesel:
F60J long body, softtop
F60JK long body, softtop, steel doors
F60JKB long body, resin top, steel doors
F65 long body, pick up

Long and short body only differ in rear overhang, wheelbase is the same
There were also different trims, any D in the designations (found on the identification plate in the car) stands for a deluxe version. An M in de designation stands for the 5sp manual transmission.

Parts mostly differ in case of the specific roof types (attaching holes and lips for the folding windscreen)

In 78 there was a restyle of the front (Chrisf20maniac over here has one of the pre 78 models), body panels are not interchangeable
In 82/83 another restyle took place. this only changed the metal grille into a plastic one, but aother parts are stil interchangeable (I've got a late 83 model).

The other fellas over here can probably complete this list with rockies and ferozas

edit: forgot to mention that seating arrangements were standard only front and the resy could be ordered as an option i guess. I've some drawings with a short model f10 as a 6-seater (benches facing sideways). Boy, would that thing go uphill fully loaded

Thanks, but there was a small van/pickup I am perticulaly interested in, similar in shape and size to a Suzuki Carry, any idea's?

That would be the Hijet but i didn't know if there were 4x4 versions

Being a Suzuki guy I have been looking for a 4x4 Carry for a while but I know were a 4x4 Hijet is so I may have to go to "the dark side"

To add to your list elgordomuygrande, I own an Daihatsu Scat model number F60RV-M. It seems that the F60 series was also produced with the metal hard-top not only the resin hard-tops.

Just an update guys I have found a 4x4 hijet in top nic (1 owner

) and I have a few more questions relating to this car before I buy it.
1. What engines will bolt up? (twin can/turbo/EFI, ect ect)
2. Does anyone know what the diff ratio is?
3. Is the rear diff intercahangeble with any other Daihatsu?

yeah, they made a 4wd charade... one was for sale on ebay Germany a while ago.. G100 shape. Might have some pics somewhere.

I think its called a G112, but not entirely sure.

Well I reckon you would be able to have a look at some of the charade or micra motors.....

Or a 660 twin cam turbo from you know what : )... Just coz you are switching to the dark side doesnt mean you can't use zook parts.

What are you planning to use for gearing, tire etc... Maybe a bit off topic sorry.

I have always liked the look of haflingers

and I thought a Suzuki Carry van or Hijet van would be a good base to cut down, put in a pair of sierra N/T diffs a few diff locks a set of 31" tyres and a few other things

I have been plotting this for many years and the cruncher was when I was in Cairns a few months ago and saw a Mitsubishi L300 4x4 van cut down into a ute!! shit yeah, I want one, now I have found a 4x4 Hijet, I can not afford to buy it

oh well maybe in a few years.
