2.8 turbo hilux tuning

Post by kransky »

im getting a turbo kit for my hilux in the next 2 months, my question is do i need to get the motor tuned? i only want to run a low boost level in the interests of engine life and fuel economy.

this is my first diesel powered vehicle so im not too sure on the tuning side of things.

thanks

I got my injector pump rebuilt when I put a turbo on my 2.8, and made a huge difference. It was about 2 days after I put the turbo on before I could get it the place and so my mates and I played with the pump a little bit but couldn't make it go as well as it did once the right people who knew what they were doing fixed it up.
Also had a boost compensator put on, I think it adjusts the flow of diesel depending whether it is on boost or not, not too sure but it seemed worth it..

What did the boost compensator set you back? Is that the same as the fuel aneroid?
