How would you guys go about removing this dent?

I was thinking of screwing in some roofing screws and pulling the dent out with a slide hammer then fibreglassing it smooth. That is just a guess though. Never repaired a dent like this before.

but when ya fix it, are ya gonna get sliders? otherwise i wouldnt bother fixing it. the roofing screws would probably just pull straight out anyway...... you better off with somthing you can weld on there. but thats a pain in the ass/arse, if you dont have the right tools.....

Weld a rod onto it and pull it out with a slide hammer, thats generally how it done.

It is right on the corner so it's a pain to fix really.

It has bigger tyres and a body lift since I did that. I was going to put sliders on it but now I am thinking of selling it. So I am not going to spend any money on it for a while until I decide what to do. The only reason I would bother fixing it is to sell it. I have had it 5 years and now want something more capable.
The dent has been there for the last year anyway.

I have access to welders so welding a rod onto it is no hassle. I could weld the rod to the corner line and then pull it out on an angle?

most panel beating places will have a tool that welds a washer on in heaps of places around the dent then it is pulled out with a slide hammer, then the washers are twisted off and ground flat, if i was you i would weld small nuts on and buy/borrow a slide hammer and pull it out

nothing a slab of pink septon bog wont fix .

what about puting a hole saw through the otherside of the sill(where not noticed) and then punching the outer skin out that way you dont have ne holes in the outer that has to be filled n coverd, then u can plug up the inside or put a rubber gromit in for an inspection hole for next time or cleaning

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I have all the tools to do the job except the slide hammer. I'll pick up one of those before I do the job. I thought about punching it out from the other side but I would prefer to leave no evidence the dent was there.

If I do sell I won't be listing it until November when I have the time to handle the enquiries and find another vehicle. So there is plenty of time to sort it out

There is a small welder style tool made by Spitznagel that a lot of panel shops use. It very lightly welds a small copper pin into place, pull it out with a slide hammer and simply twist the pin off, unless you weld it on too long. No lasting evidence and a good repair. If you're good enough with it you can metal finish that damage easy.

& sells for around the $700 mark......... ( seen em for $900 too )
Pick one up second hand for around $300 if ya lucky !
And they work a treat

unless you are confident of a 100% looking fix i would leave it. i would take a ding over a suss bog job and spray anyday

I would prefer to fix it however I may just leave it. Although it has less to do with looking dodge and more to do with me being a slacker.

I am a little concerned about getting the gap between the sill and the door to look right though. It isn't as bad as the pic makes out though. I was thinking of pulling the dent and then hitting the top of the sill with a rubber mallet until it looked good.

take to a panelbeater pay them $1-200 (guess, havent dealt with one for 12 yrs) and have it done... resale will drop more than that if you leave the dent there

Regardless of what I do I'll get a quote. At least then I'll know if it's worth buying the slide hammer, fibreglass and paint.

definitely, i dunno if u know anyone in the panelbeating/repair shop industry, but on my old car i took out the drivers door, passenger door, rear quarter, scraped, dented, paint wrecked, all up about 2500 worth of damage, and my good mate that owns Devine Smash Repairs did it for $500 , anyone one normally wouldnt charge more than 200, so im sure u could get it fixed pretty cheap

I used to know a panel beater who would have done it for a bottle of Bundy but he moved interstate and we lost touch
