nope you dont have to remove the front guard
you have to remove the air box, remove the front wheel, remove plastic guard cover under guard, pull out pin next to indicator/parker assy and remove screw next to that then knock out the light assy with your hand hitting it towards the front of the car with the palm of your hand, then you can remove the factory snorkel hiding under the guard it is held in with 3 bolts at the back of it and it is stuck down at the front so get an old screw driver and bash it loose and pull it down and then you can drill your holes on a 4.2 cab chasis you will have to drill an extra hole on the guard side fo the engine bay from memory just line your template up with the guard and you cant go wron, make sure you centre punch your holes first and start off with a 4mm drill bit so you know your holes will be spot on, and also you will have to sacrifice your patrol badge on the front guard because the snorkel covers half of it.

i hope i have been of assistance to you.

Good instructions fromm insane, just to my 2c worth, I installed a safari snork on my fathers GU, didn't remove the front wheel, IMHO theres heaps of room to work around it. We used a hole saw for the main hole,as already said just drill your self a pilot hole to start with and don't be scared! if you're putting a bling stainless one on, I would get some of that plastic/rubber prtector type material that slides over steel edges and put around your hole (on the car), seen one done like this and looks very neat.

Same as on the GQ except for the fore/aft positioning - here's my install... you just have to remove any outer flare, and then the inner plastic splash guard. From there, you can get to everything. Remove the wheel if you feel that you really have to.
