Continuous Duty Solenoids
Moderator: -Scott-
Can someone please explain the differences between the continuous duty and starter solenoids? etc...
I'm pretty sure the solenoid on my dual battery system has died, so I am looking for a replacement and didnt know what these terms meant when looking through catalouges.
Dave.

Land Rover Discovery - GQ conversion underway
Hi Dave,
The way I understand it, a Continuous Duty Solenoid is designed for heavy switching and being able to be connected continously. So its rated, for example as 100amp continuous. A Starter Solenoid is designed for heavy switching, but not being rated to be continously connected.
Therefore, a Starter Solenoid is not suitable for use in a Dual Battery installaion.
