Its all about the noise..
Its all about the noise..
Hi all,
just wondering if anyone with Calmini gears, finds them noisy, with a low howl? They were only fitted yesterday, & driving home tonight, it was noticeable. The guy who fitted them said they seemed noisy. Im confident their was no installation errors. Does noisy mean somethings wrong? or a some gearsets just noisy? May it pass, or get worse wth age? The S1 RH i previously had, was not noisy. They will get a good test out today, so will see how they go after a workout. Besides that, my final crawl ratio with them is 119:1, so it goes fairly slow. Any thougts appreciated.
Peter.

thanks for the replies guys,my minds at ease. Went out sat for a play, the first time the cars been off road since january 04. The gears were phenominal. They did howl more in low, but as said, its just the way theyre cut, someone else told me they should get quieter, as they wear in more. thanks again.
So far, a very happy Calmini customer.

some gears look like they are on an angle, that is helical, straight is quite obviously straight so you didnt ask about that. helical gears are generally a more narrow smooth changing gear while straight you need to make sure you have your clutch in all the way cause it is alot more rough.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
