Crawler gears for 73/75 series

crawler gears for 73 series? ive been told a heap of different info bout them...like they dont exist...only marlin crawlers are available... 73 gear box is the same as the 75 gear box blah blah blah.... what have you heard? any realiable info wood be greatly appreciated

They do gear sets for 70 series

Yes, the gearbox is the same as a 75 series as is the transfer. Available crawler gears/boxes for your transfer are:

1. Marks4WD
2. Marlin Crawler
3. Don Kyatt's gears which I think is the aftermarket version of the factory automatic transfer gears, offering 2.48:1 low range ratio.

It's a pity Rockhopper no longer makes Landcruiser transfer crawler gears.

Marks4WD has been planning to come up with a Cruiser Crawler box of their own, but they haven't released a version to fit your transfer yet.

AWESOME thanks dave recon i might be going the marks gear set must have totally missed it while surfing the marks website

have heard both pros and cons bout the marlin crawer box tho seems alot of ppl are busting them huh

People breaking Marlin Crawler boxes? Do you mean Hilux transfer output shafts?

not sure thery didnt specify what broke ill try and find out... but then again i heard it thru a mate that heard it thru another mate

so it cood be totally different....and it cood all be hear/say aswell

the length of the marlin setup could be an issue in a lifted Middy, but the Marks gears only replace the internal gears in the transfer case. the ultimate setup would marks plus marlin but $$$.

the marks gears are good - quiet and the difference in gearing is good for 35 - 36" tyres. not a super crawler ratio but a good compromise.

i got a set of terrain tamer gears put into my 73 transfers, they have been great and are quiet i ran with 33's was reving higher only cause it was suited to 35's will know how they are with 35's when i get my 1hz in a week or two

i rang marks and they said the crawler box they have build for the 70's is still in testing

try in a month for more answers when it will be availble for sale

hmmm wood be good but that when "how much ya wanna spend comes into play" im still gonna stick with the gear set i recon

I wonder how thick is Marks4WD Crawler box. In my 1987 HJ75 there is a crossmember that only leaves about 4 cm of space behind my transfer. Newer ones have a differently shaped crossmember, right?

when i talked to him he said 6-7 inches so that x/member is going to be prob. for anybody

they modify the x member & the fuel tank. looking ay putting one in my 79 series.

Do they cut the fuel tank down or do they move it back along the chassis?

not sure they couldn't tell me ther've never done one before.
Thought i would remove the fuel tank & sort out when I got the car home.
