After doing a 2" suspension Lift i have found the shocks to be to short...... well i knew they would be, but not that much....

I have heard you can get new Shock mounting points for the rear and shorter Shock towers for the Front.

Is this True??
if so where can i get some?

1st i have to measure up the compressed length of the coils and free length then i have to see how much i need to drop the shocks.

Idea's guys??

So you just bought some 2" lifted springs and left it at that?

Yes you can buy the products that you are after, but they are not going to make your truck perform any better than standard...and will probably cost more than a set of 4 new shocks.

www.scorpionracing.co.uk make the drop down rear mounts and front shock turrents that you are talking about. You can order them through Rovercraft in Perth. Their number is on the site.

Or...you can PM Shane(4wd Stuff) and ask for some longer shocks to be sent to you.

I personally would go with the 2nd option. Not sure about the legalities of the Scorpion products.

Why do you think the shocks are too short? You're getting exactly the same droop, and the same compression - maybe as bit less if it's coilbound.

For the rears, EE also have dropped mounts

But then you'll need longer bump stops to prevent the shocks topping out, and the never ending cycle of alteratons begins..

A longer shock might work.

At the front its usually the radius arm bushes that limit flex. A dropped mount won't induce much more droop.

Flex it up again, work out what's the limiting factor, getting coil bound, bumpstops, shocks, bushes, and search - theres a heap of info on this board, and quite a few others.

If he has 2" raised coils then the standard length shocks would be limiting his down travel. And he won't gain anything except better angles from them unless he fits a longer shock, or dropped mounts.

The 2" raised coils are already using 2" of the standard length shock. I would recommend that you get a shock that is at least 2" longer....3" really. Why have your shock dictating the amount of travel that you have.

Do a search on suspension - there is heaps of info and opinions on what to do.

OK, i understand all that, but even Std rear height in the Defender could do with the Shocks a tad lower. as they use to top out quite a bit with little load.
I have near new Koni and i would like to keep them, thats why i'm playing with droping the top shock mounts.

Is there any other mobs that make dropped mounts???

Try Rangie Spares i think they use them in there long travel kit.

just don't forget if you lower the top shock mount that under compresion the shock will bottom out before axle hits the bumpstop. this will destroy the shock way quicker than fully extending the shock.
the proper (my opinion :oops: )way to fix your problem is to get longer shocks then lift the top mount the required distance so you get full compresion to the bumpstop and more droop as well ;)
you can lower the top mount and lower the bumpstop the same amount but that doesn't help the handling

front shocks... OME # N73..... toyota 80 sereis 3 inch lifted shock. dont need to adjust front towers as compressed they suit the exsisting bump stops perfectly. gives approx just over 3 inches extra travel over standard shock.

add this to a set of 2 inch raised springs and the raduis arms binding are you limit, get a set of sams slotted bushes and youll gain another 2 inches in front end flex approx ( if he's still maken em , havent been on the site for a few months now ).

i posted photo's of these when i did my front end.... very easy and works very very well. do a search for " 110 build up pics "

Rear is going to be the issue next.

I might look at 80 series fronts and make a now mount for the top pin.

N73 80 series front are the same as defender fronts pin to pin no need to adapt them

i had 80 series shocks by 4 way ( tough dog ) modified to suit the rear on mine. they did it in the factory for me just asked at opposite lock and the did it 4 me. have HEAPS of rear flex now, just make sure you go rubber bushes as you might break sumthing using poly. wouldnt hurt to change the angel of the top mount or put a spacer behind the top bolts to alleviate streesfull angles for the shock under full droop.
