Why on earth would you waste your time on mq diffs? at least if you are going to the trouble use gq's or do a hilux center conversion, as previous post said, you may as well fit series diffs - at least you will have the same stud pattern.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.
with 8 inch sunys the track will actually be 2 inches wider than standard disco the only dramas so far ar the front spring mounts are gunna have to be raised 1.5 inches to allow clearance between the swivel hubs
and rear disc conversion and steeer stabiliser but time will tell if need be i can always bolt the standard crap back in as we are fabricating all mounts ourselves will keep u all posted on the conversion

dont bother d00d if you wanna change diffs get sumthing wider not skinnier.
your goin to have a fawken shit load of scrub up front, you wont be able to steer cause the wheels will hit the radius arms so soon its not gonna work d00d dont bother.
your turning circle will cover the width of a football field

the difs are sittin infront of the disco now with the 8 inch cruiser rims and 33x11.5 cheapo mts are bolted on and the troll diffs are actually 44mm wider measuring from inside of tyre to inside of tyre. with wheels full lock the mq dif will still have 28 mm clearance between radius arms the only thing i am concerned a bout now iw what will happen on articulation the gaurds are gunna have to be cut big time

well i am amazed, if you managed to get a good turning circle and still have clearance on the radius arms, the MQ diffs must be abit wider than i though?
I was under the impression that the MQs were a total 4" narrower than the rangie? if so I dont know how you done it.
I am almost touching the radius arms with the 33s on 15x7s with 80mm backspacing on the rangie diffs.
Get cutting and post pics

Please forgive me if this is a bit rude but !!! (fire suit on)
Im not sure why you would want to use and MQ front diff in anything, they were prone to bending on the long side and were know to crack the cast housing, some times with the whole thing breaking in halves.
Well thats what Ive seen in the NT with long corrugated roads and silly drivers. Actually I have owned numerous Land Rovers post series 2a and a couple of Range Rovers and in the conditions here I have never broken a diff. I have however cracked 2 Range Rover diff housings due to abuse high speeds and rough roads. I guess it all depends on the conditions that you operate under.

just aquired a et of gq difss and will be doin them instead but for any 1 out there mq diffs are not hard to convert to a disco the only hard part is the fact that you have to raise the front spring plates 1.75 inches and you have to convert the rear to disc 4 engineer cert but it is feasable and not that hard ifvyou know how to preheat cast that is if anyone whants info on the mq conversion me and john the brains behind our conversions pm me
by the way any one want to buy a set of mq diffs?

conversion is still happening just a lot slower than i was hoping for due to the fact that i am now the only mechanic at work now and my workload has doubled but the front diff is nearly finished just want to reinforce the control arm and spring joints
for some reason i cannot post pictures at the moment but will soon

we have extended the wheel bas by 1.5 inch overall so as there is less i need to cut from my rear doors. Tail shafs are a work of art chris from gibson tailshaft services built a pair of high angle shafts for a very reasonable price tyres are nangkang mudstars 33x12.5x15 on 8 inch sunnys it will be going on sat or sunday depending on my health all that needs to be done now is rear shock mounts and brace the panhard rod (gunna need it with my new shoes)and also run the breathers and rancho lines
ps the springs are 2inch king stretched a further 2 inches and we have raised the spring plates 1 inch overal 5 inch lift cranked arms (went a bit overboard on the rears though they may contact the chassis time will tell
if any one wants any info on some of the shortcuts just ask there are a few
