would it be easy, difficult or impossible to fit a couple of valves to enable/disable the system for off/on road? my first impression is it wouldn't be too hard with a constant volume (double ended ram) system?

Not a prob to put valves in there but you would have to link the ram onto it self as to allow the steering to cycle. You could also use QD (quick detach) fittings and put the male and female on the ram so that they could be linked together for highway use ;)

with a valve setup then it would be possible to set it up with a restriction orifice so that the ram becomes the biggest steering damper in the world for on-road, and hydro assist offroad.

this could be cool on the 80....
