Are the gears out of a deisel 4 speed (L40 I think)hilux interchangable with the G52 5 speed

if the first, second and third gear ratios are the same the you might be able to use the input shaft/gear, and second and third output gears. obviously 5th gear is unique to the 5 speed, and the cluster gear is different between 4 and 5 speeds. there are no "gears" for 4th in either box.

G52's are so cheap it's almost never worth trying to fix a busted one.

You can't swap any gears as each main gear has a corresponding teeth count gear on the layshaft and these are "fixed" to the layshaft.

Swapping in another gear tooth count on the mainshaft means it will not mesh with the current layshaft gear.
