Small Block Chevy Ignition

Post by MKPatrolGuy »

Does any one know where the wire coming out of the dizzy goes to and how the coil, condesor and ballast resistor are wired up?

TIA

I have an HEI distributer which is quite different to what you have. I have a couple of books at home that will have the info that you need. I will have a look when I get time.

I recommend the HEI. You can open the spark gap up by about 0.010" over stock and they don't have an external coil. It will start easier, run better when cold and give a little more power. From memory they retail for less than $300 new.

That would be great, thanks.

I will eventually go HEI, probably when I go to straight gas. But first I just have to get it running and the conversion finished

The wire from the dizzy is hooked to the negative side of the coil. The condensor is bolted to earth on dizzy and hooks to wire coming out of dizzy. Ballast resistor will need 12 volt ignition hooked up to one side of resistor. Other side goes to the positive side of ignition coil.

Hope this helps.
