leaks

Post by Guzzi »

3.1 ltr or the 3.0 ltr?
This is something that really needs to be seen.
Any of the pump connections, injector connections could be leaking, also water separator, fuel filter, fuel rail etc. Damaged fuel lines a possibility if its been offroad.
Start at the engine and work your way back to the fuel tank. If you cant find it due to dirt/oil grease etc give it a good clean and then drive it down a dusty road, fresh leaks will be obvious.
As obvious as this sounds use a bright torch not a ciragette lighter for light.
Look for stains/wet areas around connections, hoses.
Does it leave puddles on the floor / ground under it? or can you just smell diesel?
If its got to the point of leaving drops or puddles of fuel on the ground its a fire hazard, if you cant find it take it to a mechanic asap.
Reliability lies in the state of your wallet.........

there is an oval plate on the uderside of the injector pump that comes loose and leaks. It happened on mine the other day, leaked about 20 bux worth of deisel in 14 kilometres after it spat the seal or oring out. I made a gasket out of some cardboard i had in the car and it's still working... been too sick to fix it proper yet :x from speaking to people, it's a common thing with isuzu deisels.

EDIT: mine had been leaking slightly for ages.. couldn't find where it was coming from. i know now ;)
