GQ time.......... LWB or SWB???

ok i think this may have been asked before somewhere but i cant find it

ive got $$ to spend.... i want a gq but i dont know weather to go LWB or SWB, what i want is somethin i can drive round in thru the week etc, but play hard on the weekends..... suggestions???

Ive got a long wheel base diesal were some mates have lwb petrols they go every were I go including deep water with no water proofing running on gas lots more power and cheaper at the momment with gas prices go the lwb petrol4.2 definatly do not by a 3.0liter petrol or a 2.8 diesal

my bro and i just bought 2 swb gq's a few weeks ago. mines a 1992 deisel and his is a 1990 petrol. If you dont need the space of a lwb then i would go the shorty. plus the shorty are heaps cheaper then the lwb patrols. i got my 92 deisel for $8800 with under 200,00kms in near perfect condition. this gives me more money for mods

I'd go the LWB any day, i had a shorty MQ and never had enough space, ive since bought a GQ LWB 91 mod Diesel, with 2" lift, ARB Locker, Snorkel, 8000lb high mount winch, Alarm, Near perfect condition when i got it, it set me back $14000, which was good cause it took me 3 months to find a diesel in good nick. Sine Feb when i got it, ive added 6" lift, 32" BFG A/T's, dent to the sill, dent to the rear quarter, plenty of scratches, but you normaly get that if its a regular off roader, and its hardly been stopped, its now my tyres that let me down,

We have both, SWB and LWB. It all comes down to personal preference, the LWB are alot more comfortable than the SWB, but the SWB are alot easier to manouver.
You generally can't go wrong with buying a GQ, whether it's petrol or diesel.
I wouldn't totally count out the 3l, put a turbo on them and the go hard!

Its cheaper and easier to fit a lift over 4" to a LWB. The LWB is more stable going up and down steep hills. It has heaps of room. It seems easier to find a LWB in diesel than a Shorty in diesel. Try and get the diesel, the petrols guzzle the gas and suffer at low revs. The diesels cost more but have better resale as most people want them.
