Thought I would post up pics if my fitment of a LED brake light. This was on a GQ Patrol but is applicacable to other vehicles with brake lights stuck on the inside of the window.
I removed the factory light from the back window as I like to have as much rear visibility as possible given I carry a 33" spare.
Its a easy job but I was a little nervous cutting the slot, and in fact I screwed it up having found that in this Nissan a crossmember was behind the hole. So I had to make the hole a little bigger which meant I made up a plastic surround. If you want to put one on a GQ make sure it is at least 30mm above the gutter, and take the inside trim off first to see what I mean.

They are bright and come on fast.
Good for brakes, they reckon reaction time can save up to 1m of breaking distance.
Good idea for vehicles that are difficult to change the bulbs on (not mine!)
Phillips make 50w halogen (same as headlights) globe to suit single filament fitment eg most reverse lights, indicators, some parker lights and some cornering lights (GQ and EF etc)
Very good in reverse, without spotlights as reverse lights!

Have to be careful with the heat generated in the lens and wiring, spots and headlights use glass but this may be more about light focussing than heat tolerance. I guess if Philips are promoting them as reverse light replacements then it should be OK.
