Gq won't start after lights turned on????

Post by smitty »

G'day.

Got Gq and i ahve a problem. On the wknd i started my 4by up. Turned on the lights. My radio turned off and then back on agian. Turned off the 4by. Went to start it agian but had no "acc" or "ign". Ingition cut relay not clicking. Tryed tapping it but nothing. Swap relay and all work fine untill you turn the lights on agian. To get it going agian you switch the relays over agian.

Any thoughts on what coudl be wrong? Coudl it be and earth wire? None of the wires look that bad but i only looked at it at night. Going to replace my earth lead from battery (-) to earth tomorrow and see how it go's as it looks a bit dodgy.

Checked the battery voltage? Both standing and at key turn.

Also have u upgraded the light capacity but not the wiring (high resistance, too many sultanas welding relay contacts)

Sounds like dirty or loose battery terminals to me. Check that then check the battery & then check the alternator for charge.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.

MMMM I have been here and had that problem. Check the earth leads. Especially the one from batt to body. This is where I had the problem, wouldnt start at all. But could just tow start, but changing from highbeam to low beam and it would stall and wouldnt start unless I was going fast.

I agree as above.

Either battery is shorting a cell and is only around 10 volts or ...

Poor battery connections. Check em both.
