3ltr GU Patrol - Power Chip.

3ltr GU Patrol - Power Chip.

I have a new 2005 3ltr turbo Diesel Manual GU Patrol. And I have noted that when taking off it is very slow off the mark. This is especially noticeable when pulling a load. I have heard that ARB make a power chip that increases Torque and klw's by around 15% and eliminates the lag on take off. Has anyone got any verification and or a personal track records on this? As ARB are very vague to say the least for the $1500 odd bucks they want for the chip installed. Alternatively if someone knows of another product that is as good? And cheaper, please pass on the information.

that seems odd that the ARB guys are vague about it. At my local ARB the bloke has a similar GU to mine, 3.0TD. He has put one in his and he HIGHLY recommends it. He said it is worth every penny. He also said that they will put it on, and if I wasnt satisfied with the improved performance they can quite easily remove it back to standard, full monies returned.

I would get one if i felt it needed it, but taking off fast in traffic just uses more fuel. And for the 4WDing I do, the 3.0 has enough grunt for me... (more would be sweet, but I cant justify spending $1500, that may all change however, when I have $1500 sitting in my bank account  )

Sounds to me that this should be on another forum as well or at least ask your doctor first .

Have you thought about the trusty old exhaust and extractors or do you not want to go along that line?

Try www.tunit.com
I recently installed one on my 2004 3.0 and It runs 35s, It has no trouble bagging the tyres on bitumen now and it is awsome off road. the torque increase is the most noticeable improvement and overtaking on hills is easy. The tunit is a little more difficult to install than the dtronic and has similar power increases, however the tunit has the added bonus of being adjustable with the turn of a screw or a laptop enabling the engine to be tuned further if you have a larger exhaust or tyres etc.(i have adjusted these settings and it made an even bigger difference) The tunit can quickly be unplugged to return the vehicle to standard. tunit is the best accessory I have installed, appart from the 35s and 4' lift.

Believe it or not...its been asked :D :D :D :D

I've heard that a 3" exhaust (from the turbo back) makes a world of difference to ZD30's. When my wife's bus (2001 ZD30) needs a new exhaust, that's what's goin' on it!!

... and from what I hear he is extreamly happy with it. Towed a fully loaded camper trailer with wife and two kids aboard to Walhalla and was very impressed how easy it did it.

I'm not happy though - still driving around in the 3.0L until the 4.2 arrives.
I think you actually notice it more when the bloody thing is gone!

Glad he likes it.
