
I was thinking marine grade carpet and some bitumen/felt underlay for noise absorbtion..
any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

Another thought is a self-bailer for small yachts mounted into the floor that uses venturi effect to drain out water in the cabin, as long as you are moving. Seals itself closed when you are stationary, also works to let water out of vehicle when on dry land/after hosing out - no more rubber bungs to lose:
Blue bit is a cam action lever to lower the stainless bit down into the water. Small horizontal line across the arc of the SS is the spring loaded hinged flap.
