Four seater one litre

Post by Santos »

i've been looking at a few 82-84 1L SWB sierra's and all of them have a 2 seater compliance plate.

Now an '87 had 4 seats but i didn't look at it's plate(not for sale + a while back)

Was the earlier (81-84) models available in a 4 seater? (i have the Factory manual and in both the supplement and the original neither pictures have rear seats?

Do they have the mounting points for the seats if i want to add it to a 2 seatr model?
How hard is it to do?
What would be nessesary to comply this in NSW?

Also is can anyone share some links about the model 'changes' made through the 1l i still can't seem to work out when things like the front drums turned to discs (like a 7/82 had drums up front but a previous 5/82 built had discs)

My 1.0 litre owners manual lists kerb (curb) weight for sj410's with 2 seats and 4.
All the 1.o's I have seen had the bolt holes and fitting spots for seat belt and seats.
My LWB had 4 seats when I got it, and was listed as a 4 seat ute on registration label..It has since been changed to 2 seater ute, I have no idea why or when this occurred.
The rear seats are usually 1 piece and fold forward, then forward again

i didn't think WT came in one litres :D :fist:
(joking)

But that's a good idea, i'll get hold of an owners manual somewhere... should make converting it easier in terms of the RTA
(i think i've seen that rear bench seat in some photos.. it looks different to the old NT rear bench seat right Christopher?)

I wonder how hard it is to convert the 1l bench seat to a split seater.. you have no idea how handy it is to have 3 seats plus cargo (particulary when you can split 5-6 people between 2 zooks

I can't get over how little 1l softies are in Sydney... it seems like every week i see them in a different capital city or way inland NSW. Now if i was looking for a hardtop well i'm sure all i would see was softies

I was selling two for a mate, that is maybe what you saw.
Mine was sold to a Moke owner years ago, so I could buy something off roadish of more use. I didn't know there was differences, except for the very late split ones.

I have a 1984 1lt Zook SWB. it is classed as a 4 seater it had the folding seat in the rear and full seat belts. Now the rear seat has been removed and the front ones replaced with sports bucket seats.

Cheers

i had a very stock 1986 1l compliance plate and rego had 2 seater on it but had a rear seat and belts. doubt it was added after sale judging from the original condition of everything else. Did not have a sway bar either. you may need to ad this for 4 seatr compiance? :?:

My old zook was an 81 model 2 seater complied but had 4 seats and belts even knew the previous owner who bought it in 83 and it had 4 then so i'd say it was factory (even had the same fabric) when i did an engine conversion on it the engineer engineered them for me so the were legal.

If you need a rear seat PM bennybigballs i think he's still got it in his shed

Cheers

Mico
if it ain't broke send it to me i'll fix it!
