Mine has suffered the same thing although it seems like it has 'sealed' itself.... i went to nissan and apparently it is a cover which in the arab versions is the mount for an oil cooler.... they also told me that there should be welsh plugs behind them that stop the leaking.... gaskets are available but i reckon it will be a nightmare to replace..
Like the TD42, the TB42 has an oil cooler as standard. Its the large square aluminium block that the oil filter screws onto. The actual oil cooler is located behind this cover. Engine coolant flows around the oil cooler thus cooling the oil. Check where the housing bolts to the engine block. I dont think there is a gasket--uses a small amount of gasket goo. Make sure mating surfaces are clean and smooth.
